Let's start things off from the beginning:
So the guy who broke up is the one you wanted for years, that you sexted with & suddenly he announces to you that he broke up.
But he's the guy who's still confused about his ex, but he's confusing it between you.
He keeps you in a friendly mood, telling you that there's nothing between you.
And there you see your world collapse.
But there's no need to paint them black, as the best goals are scored in friendlies.
You don't know how things can develop between you & in general you don't know how life will bring you & what it will bring you.

When the person you love (finally) divorces What can you do?
- You are by his side as a friend.
- You don't force situations.
- You support him.
- You don't bombard him with messages all the time, you let him calm down a bit.
- You listen to him carefully.
If you still have feelings & feel like you're being pressured & want something more from him, then you need to leave this "friendship" until he gets clear on what he wants inside.
But, because you never know what life will bring, I have this saying to tell you:
A friendship can develop into love, but love rarely develops into friendship.
So my advice is to let things flow, without forcing situations, without telling him your feelings & without making him choose between you & his ex.
Maybe down the road, if things don't go well with his ex, he'll turn to you because you supported him & it's good to disappear sometimes & show that you have & personal life & that you're not waiting for him.
As hard as it may be, if you really want him, you have to be patient, otherwise move on with your life, because complications aren't always for the better.
